DAVID FIUCZYNSKI (SCREAMING HEADLESS TORSOS)
Tuesday, May 31
On Tuesday May 31, from 11:00 h, we’ll have the pleasure to receive in our higher school of music to DAVID FIUCZYNSKI, member and leader of the recognized group Screaming Headless Torsos. Fiuczynski will perform a concert-clinic with several students of our educational centers, after performing the night before a concert at Razzmatazz.
Fiuczynski is a contemporary American guitarist of jazz that is often described as “unclassifiable, challenging and stimulating” in his spectacular performances, in which he plays with his legendary guitar with 2 masts, creating a unique sound, both for his skill and technique as by the absence of frets on one of its masts.
Fiuczynski has toured and/or recorded with Jack DeJohnette (Miles, Coltrane, Sun Ra, etc.), Stewart Copeland (The Police), Meshell Ndegeocello, Rudresh Mahanthappa, John Medeski, Hasidic New Wave, Bernie Worrell (P-Funk) and Hiromi, among other famous artists, and has played in numerous festivals around the world.
His recent music combines traditional melodic elements from Middle East, Asia, India and Eastern Europe, with Rock, Funk, Electronic and other styles. This concept started at a concert in Morocco (1992). Moroccan musicians noted that Jimi Hendrix visited the country and Fiuczynski had an idea: “powerful Grooves with oriental melodies declined to put the listener into a colorful trance”. This could be the music that Jimi would play today? Fiuczynski band, Planet MicroJam, performs a Jimi Hendrix tribute concert every Saturday night in Casablanca (Morocco).
Fiuczynski was awarded as Mass Arts Council Fellow 2009 & Guggenheim 2011 in composition.
He currently heads Planet MicroJam Institute in Berklee College of Music, and March 25 of this year he launched FLAM!Blam! Pan-MicroJam! by RareNoise Records.

Below we show a very peculiar composition of David Fiuczynski dedicated to JDilla and Olivier Messiaen.
